A man, recently released from Ponent prison and flagged for a high risk of reoffending, has been returned to the penitentiary after being arrested for an attempted violent robbery at a Lleida supermarket.

The individual appeared before the Lleida duty court on Sunday, which ordered his return to prison. The incident occurred last Friday when the man entered a supermarket in the capital of Segrià armed with a pistol and attempted to steal the day's takings. He was unsuccessful and fled the scene.
The Lleida Urban Guard located and detained the suspect shortly after in the Pardinyes neighborhood. This arrest comes just over a month after the man's release from Ponent prison, a facility that had previously warned of his potential to reoffend.
