The Good Governance Commission of the Lleida City Council has greenlit a credit modification amounting to 2,181,000 euros, aimed at promoting various initiatives within the city. Among the planned investments, 50,000 euros are allocated for the installation of a shade system on the Liceu Escolar walkway, intended to protect pedestrians during the hottest months.
Deputy Mayor Carme Valls highlighted that this budget increase addresses direct citizen needs, emphasizing the significance of the Liceu Escolar walkway project in the context of climate crisis and the rising frequency of extreme temperature episodes.
The credit modification also earmarks 325,000 euros for improvements at the Camp d'Esports. Of this sum, 100,000 euros will go towards building maintenance, 125,000 euros for the grass and training pitch, and 100,000 euros for actions related to the previously detected legionella, which necessitated the replacement of water tanks and infrastructure.
In addition to sports facility upgrades, the budget includes funds for the Gardeny BTT track, the Les Basses athletics track, repairs to the stands of Club de Futbol Pardinyes, grants for AEM and UE Balàfia, and the installation of games for seniors in Llívia.
Lastly, 77,000 euros will bolster the budget for the paths in l'Horta de Lleida, supporting maintenance, clearing, and signage tasks, which are particularly important following damage caused by recent rains, as noted by Carme Valls. The proposal will be presented for approval at the Municipal Plenary.
