Mayor Fèlix Larrosa officially inaugurated the new name of the Lleida Municipal Conservatory this March, dedicating the institution to the memory of the legendary pianist Ricard Viñes.

The ceremony marks the conclusion of the Any Viñes, a year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of the musician's birth. The school is located within the Enric Granados Auditorium complex, a key cultural hub in the city of Lleida.

"Names like Viñes make us feel proud to be from Lleida."

Piano students from ESMUC performed works by Debussy and Ravel, composers who were close friends of Viñes. Additionally, the city announced that a 566,160 euro energy efficiency project for the building's climate control system will be completed next month.
