Lleida records five homicides in 2025 amid overall crime drop

Criminal offenses fell by 2.4% in the province, despite a sharp rise in drug trafficking cases.

The province of Lleida concluded 2025 with 22,382 criminal offenses, marking a 2.4% decrease compared to the previous year, according to the Ministry of the Interior.

While overall crime rates fell, the region saw five homicides, two more than in 2024. Notable incidents included a parricide in Els Alamús, a fatal stabbing in Tàrrega, and the murder of a police officer in Lleida city during the month of October.
In Lleida city, the crime rate dropped by 4%, driven by a significant 40% reduction in burglaries. However, drug trafficking offenses surged by 24.8% across the province, and violent robberies also saw a 10.4% increase.
Sexual freedom offenses decreased by 5.2%, with reported rapes falling by nearly 16%. Meanwhile, cybercrime remains a challenge, with 4,356 recorded cases, the vast majority of which were online scams.
