The election results mean Unió de Pagesos (UP) will hold 6 seats on the Agricultural Board, down from 7. Meanwhile, JARC increased its representation to 4 seats after securing 30% of the total vote. The most significant shift occurred in Lleida, where JARC outperformed UP with 42% of the local ballots.
Turnout reached 54.78%, the highest in recent years. A key factor in this election was the invalid vote, which accounted for nearly 20% of the total (2,317 votes), following a protest campaign by the Revolta Pagesa movement. Other groups like Asaja and UPA failed to reach the 15% threshold required for representation.
“"The results reinforce the sector's confidence and ensure the union's significant influence on the Agricultural Board."
The Government of Catalonia's Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that the new board will represent the interests of 21,374 professionals for the next five years, focusing on issues such as fair pricing and water access.
