The Sant Jordi festival in Lleida has been marked by the success of a book that rescues from oblivion over five hundred names of those repressed by Francoism in the province.

The publication, titled Silenci trencat (Broken Silence), has been the top-selling title during the Sant Jordi celebration in Lleida. This work, which was given to readers by a local media outlet, has repeated the success of previous editions. The author, a historian and archivist from Aitona, has expressed her great satisfaction with the book's impact.
The volume is the result of an editorial collaboration between the media outlet and the Diputació de Lleida. Its research has identified up to 537 officials and temporary staff from the era who suffered repression under Francoism in the provincial corporation immediately after the Civil War. The writer emphasized that the distribution of thousands of copies will allow the story to reach more people and help identify other victims or family members.

"I am emotional, the story will reach many more people and will help to achieve more identifications of people who suffered this repression or relatives who now learn that a relative of theirs went through this Francoist ordeal."

During the festival, the author showed great energy, starting her literary day early in the morning. She signed books at various stands, including that of the AMPA of a school in Aitona and a commercial establishment in Lleida, before continuing her tour through other parts of the city, such as Ferran and Francesc Macià streets, up to the stand of the media outlet and a local television channel.

"It's surprising how many books I'm signing, it's fun and very emotional. We have managed to break the silence of this story."
