The Government has given its approval to Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) to contract its own surveillance and security service, with an investment of 21.4 million euros for a two-year period.

This decision will allow FGC to tender for this essential service to protect its facilities, trains, and infrastructure. The measure will apply to current lines such as Barcelona-Vallès, Llobregat-Anoia, and Lleida-la Pobla de Segur.
Furthermore, the new security service will also cover future lines to be managed by the public company, including the Lleida-Terrassa connection (RL3 and RL4) and the new R-Aeroport line, thus extending coverage across the entire FGC railway network.

Surveillance and security is an essential service.

According to the Generalitat, the security model to be implemented is the result of close collaboration and joint work with the Mossos d'Esquadra, ensuring effective coordination between both entities to enhance public transport security.
