Local merchants in Lleida are calling this February for a revitalization plan for the old bus station in Saracíbar street, which is set to close permanently next March.

The opening of the new Príncep de Viana terminal this March will mark the end of over fifty years of activity at the Saracíbar street station. In response, the Lleida City Council has launched a participatory process to determine the future of the facility.
Owners of local businesses, such as La botigueta de la Carme and Casa Terés, agree on the urgent need for action. The area around the station is currently experiencing a decline that worries residents, who fear the building will become a source of neglect if left empty.

"It should have uses that reactivate the neighborhood. The station is currently scary; they should decide what to do with it."

Proposals include a community center, a market, or a sports area. Meanwhile, Josep Terés suggests that a public parking lot could be an effective solution to attract visitors, given the current parking difficulties in the surrounding streets of Lleida.
