A man turned himself in to the Mossos d'Esquadra police station in Lleida last Sunday after confessing to murdering a woman in the city, in a suspected case of gender violence.

The events took place on Ciutat de Fraga street, in the capital of Segrià. Following the confession, officers went to the victim's home to verify the information, confirming the veracity of the account and immediately arresting the individual.
The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of the Mossos d'Esquadra has taken over the investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the crime. Currently, the motives and the relationship between the aggressor and the victim remain unknown.
The detainee will be brought before a judge once the police proceedings are finalized. This tragic event adds to the long list of femicides recorded annually in Catalonia and Spain, highlighting the need to strengthen prevention measures.
