This project will completely renew the park's lighting, transitioning to LED technology, which is more efficient and offers better lighting performance compared to existing technologies like sodium vapor. The replacement includes not only the luminaires but also all the wiring, structure, and foundations of the old and deteriorated streetlights.
The civil works, which started on September 7th, involved renovating the electrical conduits by excavating approximately 6,000 meters of trenches. Now, 13,000 meters of new wiring, four new electrical control panels, and the 202 new streetlights will be installed. The entire project is expected to be completed by February.
The lighting renovation in the El Segre park using LED technology will result in a 64% saving in energy consumption and provide improved lighting performance. This initiative is part of the new contract for the maintenance and management of this public service in the city.
A portion of the material, specifically the luminaires, is funded by a grant from the Institute for Energy Saving and Diversification (IDAE). This funding will allow for the replacement of 14,545 lighting points across the city, achieving 100% public lighting with LED technology by March of next year.
