The alert was received at 5:48 AM, mobilizing seven Firefighter units and four Emergency Medical System (SEM) ambulances. The fire originated on the third floor. Although a gas explosion was ruled out, the main hypothesis suggests a deflagration due to gas accumulation, leaving one room completely gutted.
One of the two people rescued via the balcony was evacuated in serious condition and transferred to the Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona. As a safety measure, 48 people were evacuated from the seven-story building until the municipal architect confirmed that the structure was not affected.
“"The flat was rented a long time ago and the tenants only paid the first month. The owner reported them and the trial is pending."
Despite the structural validation, half a dozen residents from the most affected flats had to be rehoused by the Paeria Social Services. The incident has alarmed neighbors, as it is the third fire the building has suffered in less than two years, following those that occurred in April and October 2024.
