SEGRE readers submitted over 500 proposals to transform Lleida's old bus station, prioritizing sports and citizen services as the main new uses for the central location.

The bus terminal on Saracíbar street in Lleida is preparing for its definitive closure following the imminent inauguration of the new station at Príncep de Viana. The site, which has been active for over half a century with little maintenance, could become a new urban attraction pole to counteract the effect of the future Torre Salses shopping center.
The participatory process, initiated by the municipal government, and an open survey conducted by SEGRE have gathered nearly 500 responses. The most voted proposals, with 115 mentions, are related to sports activities, highlighting the request for athletics facilities (42 mentions), a gym (23 votes), or a swimming pool (15 mentions).
The second most voted category, with about 150 global proposals, corresponds to citizen services. Within this group, the creation of a parking lot was the most recurrent request with 62 mentions, despite the existence of a nearby underground car park. Other ideas include a botanical garden (15 votes) or a security center for the Guàrdia Urbana or the Mossos d'Esquadra.

"This facility can be an opportunity for us to retain businesses and clientele, especially in our case, as we are literally next door."
