The Mossos d’Esquadra are investigating the assault on three homes and the attempted burglary of a fourth in Torrelameu (Segrià) last weekend, while residents were attending the Sant Sebastià Festival dance.

The incidents occurred on the last day of the festival, Tuesday, between 7:30 PM and 9:00 PM, on streets including Pintor Viladrich, Vilanova de la Barca, and La Bassa. The criminals gained access to the properties by scaling façades and forcing windows and doors to steal money, jewelry, and valuables.

"A neighbor detected the thieves when they were lifting her blind."

Carles Comes · Mayor of Torrelameu
The Mayor of Torrelameu, Carles Comes, regretted the events and confirmed that investigators are analyzing recordings from both municipal and private security cameras in search of evidence.
Faced with this situation, the council is considering preventive measures for future celebrations. Comes announced that for the Festa Major del Roser, scheduled for May, they are considering hiring private security to ensure the peace of mind of festival attendees.
This type of robbery is not an isolated incident. The Mossos d’Esquadra have detected a trend in recent years where thieves take advantage of local festivals to operate, as recently happened in Tàrrega during the Three Kings parade, and last year in towns such as Camarasa, Bell-lloc, Alfarràs, Castellserà, Pradell, and l’Espluga Calba.
