The town of Blanes has commenced preliminary work this week for the summer season, involving the installation of demarcation buoys on its beaches to ensure safety for bathers and boats.

The operations, which started on Thursday, will continue over the next few days and cover various coastal areas, including S’Abanell, Blanes Centre, Punta de Santa Anna, and Cala Bona. This initiative is crucial for preparing the beaches before the influx of visitors.
The work primarily involves placing buoys to clearly delineate swimming zones and access channels for boats. This signage is vital for enhancing safety, establishing distinct areas where navigation and water sports are prohibited within the swimming zone, while the designated channels are exclusively for boats and activities such as windsurfing or jet skis.
The demarcation configuration will be the same as last season, maintaining a swimming strip that extends up to 200 meters from the coast, with exceptions in smaller coves. This consistency aims to facilitate users' understanding of the regulations.
In a second phase, life lines will be installed, providing additional support for swimmers. However, this task depends on the prior leveling of the sand, which could not be carried out earlier due to sea storms that altered the beaches' morphology in previous months. These tasks are expected to begin in mid-May, coinciding with the progressive installation of other services such as walkways, signage, and information points.
Concurrently, the municipality reminds the public that from May 15, a fishing ban will come into effect between the Blanes stream and Vall de Burg. This measure, which will remain in force until September 15, aims to protect the cormorant in this specific stretch of the coastline.
