The initiative, promoted by the municipal archive, involves ten hotels and allows visitors to discover curious items such as the first computer that arrived at an establishment in the 1980s or one of the candelabra used during nighttime power outages. Postcards, tableware, and old photographs complement the exhibition, offering a glimpse into the past of Lloret de Mar and the transformation of tourism, society, and its population.
One of the exhibits is the La Palmera hotel, founded by the father of Josep Maria Garriga i Feliu. He explains that the land was acquired for one and a half million pesetas, equivalent to about 9,000 euros today. The family, originally from a clothing store in Calella, decided to venture into hospitality after seeing the potential of the sector in Lloret de Mar, where the establishment still operates today with the third generation at the helm.
Among the most notable objects is the first computer installed in Lloret de Mar in 1985, an Epson model. This device enabled the Xainé Park hotel to digitize guest check-ins and check-outs, as well as the establishment's accounting.
The exhibition can be visited at the Casa de Cultura in Lloret de Mar until May 28th.
