The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) issued a flood warning for the Ter river basin this Saturday, March 7, as the Susqueda reservoir exceeded 102% of its maximum capacity.

Following the impact of Storm Regina, the Susqueda dam is currently holding 229 cubic hectometres of water, forcing an overflow over the top of the structure. This rare sight follows a period of severe drought, now replaced by high water levels that have put local authorities on high alert in the Selva region.
In la Cellera de Ter, officials have closed access to the riverbanks as the flow reached 208 m3/s. Other reservoirs are also near their limits, with Sau at 98.9% and Darnius-Boadella at 96.8%. Significant rainfall totals were recorded in Viladrau (201.2 litres) and Molló (150.2 litres) over the last 48 hours.
The storm has also caused logistical disruptions, including the closure of the N-260 highway between Ripoll and Sant Joan de les Abadesses due to landslides. Civil Protection continues to advise the public to stay away from river areas due to dangerously high water currents.
