Tarragona Alerts for Hail, Strong Winds, and Possible Tornadoes

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia issues a maximum alert for violent weather in several Tarragona regions in the coming hours.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia has issued a maximum level alert (6 out of 6) for violent weather in several regions of Tarragona, including the possibility of tornadoes.

The regions of Terra Alta, Ribera d'Ebre, Priorat, Baix Ebre, and Baix Camp are under a high or very high danger warning due to the forecast of extreme meteorological phenomena in the next two hours. No risk is expected in the rest of Catalonia.
According to the alert, strong wind gusts exceeding 25 m/s, hail larger than 2 cm in diameter, downbursts, and even tornadoes or waterspouts may occur. These conditions contrast with the high temperatures recorded in recent days.

"During the next 2 hours, hail, strong wind gusts, downbursts, and/or tornadoes may occur in Terra Alta, Ribera d'Ebre, Priorat, Baix Ebre, and Baix Camp."

Protecció Civil
In light of this situation, Protecció Civil has urged citizens to exercise caution. The alert from Meteocat was issued around 5:00 PM and is expected to remain active until 7:00 PM this Monday.
