This publication, with photographs by Albert Nel·lo and texts by Xavier Fernández, pays tribute to fifty emblematic shops in the city of Tarragona that have maintained their activity for decades. The work gathers first-person testimonies from shopkeepers, detailing their origins, their daily struggles, and their firm commitment to preserving the commercial essence of Tarragona.
Keeping a small business open today is a true act of resistance, demonstrating love for tradition and courage in the face of large corporations.
The presentation event, open to all citizens, is conceived as a meeting point for the most authentic Tarragona, often overlooked. It is expected to be an event full of 'tarragonisme', reinforcing the sense of community and the value of local commerce.
Additionally, another recent work, Rostros del perdón, by journalist PJ Armengou, also editor-in-chief of the Diari de Tarragona, is mentioned. This book explores five stories centered on the capacity to forgive, highlighting the importance of empathy in an increasingly individualistic world. Both publications, although thematically different, are considered essential reading.
