The Tarragona Chamber of Commerce supports Parc Central's initiative to open on Sundays and holidays, regretting the lack of dialogue with the City Council.

The debate over commercial opening hours in Tarragona intensifies after the municipal plenary rejected the liberalization of hours. Now, the Chamber of Commerce is positioning itself in favor of Parc Central, which has taken the case to court to request the expansion of the Tourist High Traffic Zone.
The President of the Chamber, Laura Roigé, has publicly stated her support for the shopping center's request, advocating for freedom in opening hours. "Let justice take its course. We maintain that there should be freedom, as in Barcelona, so that whoever wants to open on Sundays can do so," Roigé declared.

It is useless to try to stop the inevitable. Nowadays, if you want to buy shoes, you can do so at three in the morning, on holidays, and on Sundays.

Roigé criticized the position of the Tarragona City Council, regretting that "they haven't attended Chamber events for years" and that dialogue on the issue has not been possible. The Chamber urges the municipal administration to request the declaration of Tarragona as a Tourist Municipality to benefit commerce, although the municipal government argues that there is no social consensus and that the measure would only benefit large retail establishments.
Parc Central justifies its legal action by its proximity to a World Heritage monument, the Necropolis, and by the fact that its shops are less than 300 square meters, which would allow them to open every Sunday according to current regulations.
