The energy transformation strategy is supported by the Institut Català de Finances (ICF), which has granted a 20 million euro loan through the EcoVerda line. This contribution covers approximately 35% of the total budget allocated for improvements at the Vila-seca facilities.
The actions focus on reducing the consumption of fossil fuels. At the Vila-seca I plant, an electric boiler will be installed to replace conventional heat systems. In parallel, at Vila-seca II, a biomass steam generation system and a residual heat recovery mechanism will be implemented.
The project also includes optimizing the hydrogen produced during the chlor-alkali manufacturing process. According to company forecasts, these measures will allow for a 56% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. In addition to public funding, the initiative has received a 14 million euro grant from the industrial decarbonization PERTE.
