The President of the Diputació de Tarragona, Noemí Llauradó, and the Deputy for Social and Cultural Promotion, Òscar Sánchez, led the presentation, highlighting the MAMT's role in promoting art organically and its efforts to bring art closer to school audiences. The museum's director is Manel Margalef.
The special programming begins on Friday, February 6, with the inauguration of the exhibition Adq__s_c__ns MAMT (i+), which includes recently acquired pieces that will be integrated into the collection. The exhibition showcases great diversity, from contemporary tapestries to comics, featuring works by figures such as Josep Royo, Joan Rom, Raquel Sánchez Friera, and Ariadna Parreu.
Among the featured exhibitions is one dedicated to the Tarragona architect Josep Maria Jujol, resulting from a collaboration with the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC). This exhibition, curated by Perejaume, can be visited until January 2027. Furthermore, from July 5 to November 30, the Col·lecció Forvm will be displayed, one of the best private collections of national and international photography, featuring 1,700 works by 356 authors.
The sculptor Julio Antonio, a key figure in the museum's history, will be the focus starting in September with the exhibition Julio Antonio, entre el realisme i la memòria (Julio Antonio, between realism and memory), exploring various thematic axes. Finally, the future relocation of the MAMT to the Palau de la Diputació was confirmed. The protocol of intentions was signed last November, and the museological plan and participatory project are expected to be drafted this year, with execution planned before 2027 and the complete administrative relocation around 2030.
