The Guardia Civil and Maritime Rescue services recovered the body of a man this Wednesday afternoon between the Port of Tarragona entrance and La Pineda beach.

The emergency call was received by 112 shortly before 4:00 PM. Search teams first located an empty kayak drifting at sea and subsequently found the deceased individual. The operation, which included a white helicopter, drew significant attention from people at the Pau Casals promenade along the Costa Daurada.
Specialized units, including the GEAS (underwater activities group) and the Judicial Police, were deployed to retrieve the body and begin identification procedures. Preliminary reports suggest the cause of death was drowning, following the man's departure into the sea earlier today.

"An investigation is currently underway to clarify the death."

While the investigation remains open, the primary hypothesis points toward suicide. This line of inquiry is supported by the discovery of a note linked to the incident. Police continue to work on the case to rule out other possibilities.
