Environmental organizations and the Unió de Pagesos union have gathered nearly 3,000 formal objections in just two days against the MAT high-voltage power line project connecting Aragon and Tarragona.

Social mobilization against the Red Eléctrica infrastructure has intensified across the Priorat, Baix Camp, and Tarragonès regions. Groups like GEPEC have set a deadline of February 25 to submit all citizen complaints to the authorities.

The proposed 180-kilometer line features towers reaching 55 meters in height. Farmers warn that placing these structures in the middle of vineyards and olive groves will destroy agricultural profitability and pose health risks for those working under 400 kV circuits.
Opponents are preparing a legal challenge and threaten to take the case to European Union courts. They argue the project is incompatible with the preservation of Natura 2000 protected areas and local wildlife species.
