Protest groups against the high-voltage power line (MAT) between Aragon and Tarragona have collected nearly 3,000 formal objections in just two days during February.

Organizations including GEPEC and the Unió de Pagesos farmers' union held a press conference in Reus to demonstrate unity against the Red Eléctrica project. With the legal deadline for claims set for February 25th, activists are ramping up efforts across affected municipalities. They argue the infrastructure poses significant risks to public health and the local agricultural economy.

"In 2012 we stopped it, in 2022 we stopped it, and in 2026 we will stop it again."

The proposed route affects several protected natural areas and agricultural lands in Priorat and Baix Camp. Local leaders have criticized the lack of dialogue from the Spanish Government and the Generalitat. Most local councils have already expressed their opposition, and legal action in European Union courts is being considered if the project is not halted.
