Tarragona Impulsa launched the fifth edition of the "Peix de Tarragona, tot un gust" campaign, aiming to showcase the work of fishermen and promote sustainable consumption in the El Serrallo neighborhood and local markets.

The fifth edition of the campaign, under the slogan "Un any de mar, un tast d'història" (A year of the sea, a taste of history), aims primarily to recognize the work of fishermen and fishmongers in Tarragona and the universe surrounding these traditional trades. The initiative seeks to highlight the cultural, social, and economic value of local and sustainable consumption.

"this initiative aims to bring the great wealth of local fishing closer to the public and make visible life at sea and in the market, and the related trades. Furthermore, it intends to promote sustainable local consumption with the cultural, social, and economic value it entails."

The campaign is the result of collaboration between several key entities, including the Port of Tarragona (through the Port Museum), the Fishermen's Guild of Tarragona, Tarragona Markets, and the Tarragona City Hospitality Business Association. Neighborhood associations from El Serrallo are also participating.
A central element is the publication of a fishing calendar based on old images of fishermen and fishmongers from El Serrallo, provided by the Port Archive and Museum. Among the featured images is that of fishmongers Maria Teresa Borrás Núñez and Rafaela Borrás Núñez at the Tarragona Central Market in 1960.
A novelty in this edition is the distribution of thermal bags featuring the slogan "Peix de Tarragona, més fresc, més bo, més nostre" (Tarragona Fish, fresher, better, more ours). These bags will be given to customers who purchase more than €30 worth of local fishing product at participating fishmongers in the city's markets and other establishments.
The campaign also includes the production of four videos focused on the Blue Economy. The first, titled Market People: Experiences and Recommendations, has already been presented at the Teatret del Serrallo. The Port Museum, for its part, is maintaining the exhibition Dones de mar, oficis amb nom de dona (Women of the Sea, Trades with a Woman's Name) until Easter.
