The Catalan Ombudsman (Síndic de Greuges) has launched a new website featuring localized data on homelessness, identifying Tarragona and Reus as key areas of concern.

According to the latest figures, Reus records 319 homeless people, while Tarragona follows with 259. These cities rank fourth and fifth in Catalonia, respectively, trailing only Barcelona, Badalona, and Sabadell. The data was collected from 81 municipalities with populations exceeding 20,000 inhabitants.
The demographic profile reveals that 86% of those living on the streets are men, with the most common age group being between 41 and 50 years old. Furthermore, the study identified 429 informal settlements across the region, housing over 2,500 individuals.
This new digital tool aims to provide transparency and support for the Institutional Table for Addressing Homelessness. It allows public administrations to analyze social service budgets, available shelter beds, and demographic trends to foster a more coordinated regional response.
