To speak of Tarragona and sports is to speak of a history that dates back more than 2,000 years.
The city has consolidated its position by organizing over 55 sporting events last year, which attracted nearly 40,000 athletes and 70,000 companions, generating an economic impact exceeding 13 million euros. This track record earned Tarragona the National Sports Award in 2024.
Among the future events already announced, it has been confirmed that Tarragona will host the start of the second stage of the Tour de France in 2026, the European Triathlon Championship, and the Special Olympics, reinforcing its commitment to tourism desegmentation.
