The monument, which has undergone significant renovation, offered free access throughout July, including 36 guided tours. These figures have been met with satisfaction by the Tarragona City Council, which considers the turnout a success.
The Councillor for Heritage, Nacho García Latorre, thanked citizens for their response, stating they "responded so well to the department's proposal to come and rediscover this new space in the city".
Starting this Saturday, August 1st, entry to the site will become paid, joining other monuments managed by the Museum of History of Tarragona. It will also be included in the Tarragona pass. Informative panels with historical reconstructions will remain, and visitors will be provided with a map.
The rehabilitation of the Forum of the Colonia Romana in Tarragona, which lasted eighteen months, included re-excavating the site, relocating the entrance to Cervantes street, replacing the old bridge with a walkway, and creating a children's park in the surrounding area. The total investment amounted to 4.5 million euros, funded by European Next Generation funds.
