The Automovilistas Europeos Asociados (AEA) has identified two stretches of the T-11 highway in Tarragona as major accident hotspots within the Spanish road network between 2020 and 2024.

According to the study, kilometer 17 (near L'Albada) and kilometer 15 (near Les Gavarres) recorded a combined total of over 160 accidents and more than 200 victims. These sections are considered 'black spots' as their danger index is ten times higher than the national average.
The Mossos d'Esquadra police force recently conducted speed traps in the area following several serious incidents. One driver was caught traveling at 119 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. In total, 27 drivers were fined for speeding during the safety operation.
The AEA report analyzed 295 kilometers of state roads, concluding that while toll roads remain the safest, overall safety measures need to be reinforced in high-risk areas to prevent further casualties.
