Thousands of teachers from Tarragona, Penedès, and Terres de l'Ebre took to the streets this Tuesday to voice their opposition to a salary agreement signed by the Catalan Government.

The protest in Tarragona saw a turnout of 10,000 people according to organizers, while local police reported 4,000 participants. Early morning actions included roadblocks on the AP-2 highway and disruptions at the Port of Tarragona entrance.

"We do not accept a deal made over shrimp in back offices, led by elites and partisan union leaderships."

Major unions such as USTEC and Aspec argue that the 30% salary supplement increase over four years is inadequate. Protesters called for the resignation of Education Minister Esther Niubó and criticized the role of Presidency Minister Albert Dalmau in the negotiations.
