The awarded company, along with specialized restoration and archaeology teams, has already started the work at the site. The overall project, aimed at conserving and enhancing this Roman heritage, has a final awarded budget of 465,782.46 euros and is co-financed by the Diputació de Tarragona and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
The Gaia Aqueduct, a key hydraulic infrastructure for supplying water to ancient Tàrraco, crosses several municipalities in the Camp de Tarragona region. Previous investigations by the Institut Català d’Arqueologia Clàssica (ICAC) have helped document and study different sections of this historical construction in Els Pallaresos.
This intervention continues the research and conservation efforts, aiming to preserve the Roman remains, improve their surroundings, and facilitate their future enhancement. Coordination among the various professionals involved is crucial to ensure the protection of archaeological elements throughout the project's three phases.
