The group, with 41 years of history and deeply rooted in the city's Carnival, had chosen as its central theme a satire on the “decadent conditions” of PortAventura World, concerning both the rides and the workers themselves, which prompted the theme park's legal reaction.
“"Like every year, we chose the theme of our comparsa by assembly, and this time it was the decadent conditions of the park, both the rides and the workers themselves."
The comparsa previewed the concept 'MortAventura' on social media and used graphic material that included the park's real corporate image and a parody of the slogan, 'Made to decadence'. Following this publication, which went viral, PortAventura's legal services sent a judicial requirement giving them seven days to withdraw the content.
The entity complied with the requirement to avoid risking “legal actions” and a possible fine payment that could compromise the economic integrity of its members. Subsequently, Colla La Bóta changed the theme to 'Censored', an explicit name referencing the situation experienced.
Despite the change, Pérez de la Torre assured that the critique is not over, as they will use their participation in the Disfressa d'Or, one of the central events of the Carnival held between February 6 and 18, to continue the social satire that has historically characterized the Tarragona festival.
