Dozens of farmers and ranchers from the Gremi de la Pagesia Catalana have blocked access to the Port of Tarragona since Thursday to reject the EU-Mercosur agreement and will meet with Minister Òscar Ordeig on Friday.
The demonstrators, utilizing about sixty tractors and vehicles, spent the night at the A-27 access, maintaining the main entry and exit blockade of the Tarragona port. The protest, which began on Thursday morning, involves bonfires, tables, and assemblies to discuss future actions.

"We do not plan to lift the blockades; we want to speak with him so that he takes a stand against the treaty."
The president of the Gremi de la Pagesia Catalana, Joan Regolf, expressed satisfaction with the support received, noting that the public is helping them and that they expect more colleagues to join the protest, which they plan to maintain until next Monday, January 12.
The meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, will take place in the city of Tarragona, where spokespersons for Revolta Pagesa will ask the official to act as the sector's interlocutor with the Spanish government, even if the Minister does not have direct authority over the agreement.

"It cannot be that products from other countries are allowed to enter because it is unfair competition; we cannot compete with these third countries in terms of production, quantities, or quality."
In addition to the blockade, the farmers plan to hold a tractor march through the center of Tarragona on Sunday, culminating in the reading of a manifesto at the Imperial Tarraco, although the port access blockade will remain in place.
