The Tarragona Carnival 2026 will officially kick off on February 11 with the presentation of the Queen, Ana Belén Romero, and the Concubine, Dani Medina, highlighting the return of the Disfressa d'Or to the Tarraco Arena.

The great festival of revelry in Tarragona is consolidated as a benchmark event, incorporating this year the possibility of choosing a Queen for the first time. Ana Belén Romero, from Sinhus, and Dani Medina, from Urban Style, will be the highest representatives of the 2026 Carnival. The official start will be on Wednesday, February 11, with the Entrance of the Carnestoltes Queen XLIII and her Concubine XXX at the Plaça de la Disbauxa, where they will receive the staff of command.

"We can say that the Tarragona Carnival has become a benchmark festival locally, and initiatives such as the Disfressa d’Or or the Plaça de la Disbauxa constitute a significant step forward in this direction."

One of the most anticipated events, the Disfressa d’Or (Golden Costume), returns to the Tarraco Arena on Sunday, February 8, after being held last year at the Palau Firal. Fourteen troupes will showcase their best attire in an event presented by journalist Guillem Estadella and artist Gemma Polo. Previously, on Friday, February 6, the book Jutjant el Rei Carnestoltes (Judging the Carnival King), by Jorge Pérez de la Torre, a historical compilation of the trials of the Carnestoltes King, will be presented.
The Bastiment de la Bóta (Construction of the Barrel) and the presentation of the Ninots will take place on Tuesday, February 10. For the third consecutive year, the Taller Valua from València will be in charge of the structure, which this year will focus on the theme of Roman Tàrraco under the name Bóta Tarraco Renovat MMXXVI. This ephemeral monument will be exhibited in the Plaça de la Font until its burning, symbolizing the closing of the cycle.
The central days of the festival will be the weekend of February 14 and 15, with the Rua de l'Artesania (Craftsmanship Parade) and the Rua de Lluïment (Showcase Parade), respectively, both starting at 6 p.m. Furthermore, the celebration expands to the neighborhoods (Sant Salvador, Torreforta) and schools with the Tombet, seeking to bring the Carnival closer to all audiences in the city.
