The event, held at the Atelier des Chefs in Toulouse, is part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Tarragona's designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This international action seeks to consolidate the city as a leading cultural and gastronomic destination.
The presentation offered an immersive experience to the thirty French attendees (journalists, content creators, and travel agents), combining history and gastronomy. The journey into the past began with the figure of Sthenelus, a Roman wine merchant from Tàrraco, who illustrated the territory's ancient winemaking tradition.
“"This initiative reinforces Tarragona as a reference destination in France for lovers of history, culture, and gastronomy, through an immersive experience that connects heritage and culinary innovation in a unique setting."
The experience culminated with a lunch and showcooking led by the Tàrraco a Taula collective. The chefs recreated historically documented Roman recipes, adapted to contemporary tastes and paired with local wines and beers, highlighting Tarragona's gastronomic richness as a differential element.
The event featured the institutional presence of the First Deputy Mayor of the Tarragona City Council, Montserrat Adan Domènech, as well as Roger Trillas, President of the Tarragona City Camping Association, and Josefina Mariné, Director of the French tourism promotion center.
