The Tarragona Provincial Hotel Association (AEHT) confirmed that the tourism sector closed the Christmas and New Year's Eve holiday period with very positive figures. In the capital and the Tarragonès region, occupancy hovered around 70% during the Christmas week, reaching near full capacity (close to 100%) on New Year's Eve.
This high demand trend was replicated in other regions. In Reus and the Baix Camp, average occupancy rose from 60% in the first week to nearly 90% in the second. Similar figures were observed in Conca de Barberà, Alt Camp, and the Terres de l'Ebre.
The Priorat region, known for its inland tourism, also exceeded expectations with occupancy above 55%, improving on the previous year's data and concentrating demand during the New Year's Eve celebrations. The AEHT interprets these figures as confirming the concentration of demand on very specific dates.
The increase in occupancy and average price compared to the previous year partially compensates for the impact of the low season immediately following the holidays.
The data collected by the AEHT Federation represents nearly 60% of the accommodations in the Tarragona demarcation, mostly establishments that remain open throughout the year.
