The CODA podcast, hosted by student Anna Alcoverro and journalist Aleix Pérez, delves into the behind-the-scenes life of the musical ensemble, which was founded in 1999. A new episode will be published weekly on the YouTube channel, covering topics from the orchestra's origins to the personal stories of the musicians.
“"I wanted to be part of a beautiful and ambitious project, with a high level and a very good atmosphere."
The ensemble began under the leadership of professor Markus Schikora, focusing on promoting lesser-known compositions. Starting in 2007, under Tomàs Grau, it consolidated as a symphony orchestra, becoming a reference in the Tarragona region.
The current conductor, Miquel Massana, who has led the orchestra since the 2018-19 season, highlights the ensemble's commitment to training. For the first time, two assistant conductors, Francesc Minguella and Aleix Vaqué, have been incorporated, aiming to provide conducting opportunities to young talents.
The orchestra, composed of sixty musicians, mostly students from local conservatories, is also celebrating the upcoming modernization of the Aula Magna at the Campus Sescelades, which will be converted into a larger and more comfortable auditorium for rehearsals.
