The mayor of Sant Vicenç de Torelló, Enric Mayo, will take the stage on December 27 to play Satan in one of the three unique versions of 'Els Pastorets' performed in the municipality.

Enric Mayo, interviewed on La tramoia by Jordi Sunyer for EL 9 TV, confirmed that he will once again embody the role of the devil this Christmas. The mayor, who takes comments about his role with humor, clarified that he technically plays Satan, while the deputy mayor would play Lucifer, the “big devil”.

"I have already received more than one comment about the mayor playing the devil, but in the end, we play the role that is required."

Sant Vicenç de Torelló stands out as the only municipality in Catalonia offering three different versions of 'Els Pastorets' (The Shepherds), reflecting its historical structure of three active centers with their own identity. These performances include the version in Borgonyà, held at the Teatre del Casino, and the revived La flor de Nadal in Vila-seca, performed at the Torre de les Monges.
The version in the main center of Sant Vicenç has resurrected Pastorets d’en Bato i en Borrego, a nearly unknown 19th-century piece written in old, rhyming Catalan. This performance is held outdoors in the Plaça de l’Ajuntament, as the municipality lacks its own theater, turning the street into a stage.
The outdoor spectacle symbolically transforms the Town Hall into hell and the balcony into heaven, utilizing real fire to enhance the dramatic effect. The performances are scheduled for December 27, with showings at six in the evening and eight at night, bringing together about twenty amateur actors.

"'Els Pastorets' is about building community, keeping tradition alive, and creating a bond between generations."
