The Minister of Justice, Ramon Espadaler, committed to seeking supra-municipal funding to unblock the consolidation of Corbera d'Ebre's Poble Vell, a 3.1 million euro project stalled due to lack of resources.

The rehabilitation of the Poble Vell de Corbera d'Ebre, a key vestige of the Battle of the Ebro and declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN) since 1993, remains stalled five years after the project's approval. The lack of funding prevents the City Council from executing the work, while the monumental complex worryingly erodes with every weather event.
The overall project was initially budgeted at 3.1 million euros and divided into nine phases. So far, only one has been executed, with an investment close to 300,000 euros, which finished in January last year. Mayor Antonio Álvarez insisted that the municipality cannot face the maintenance and recovery of this memory space alone.

"The will to walk this path is clear. We need to see how many phases we can do and find the resources. We will not do it all at once; that is highly improbable. I do not want to deceive anyone, but we will continue."

Minister Espadaler mentioned the need to find supra-municipal resources, including the 2% Cultural, Infraestructures.cat, other Government departments, and even private sponsors. Simultaneously, Espadaler introduced the new director of COMEBE (Memorial Consortium of the Spaces of the Battle of the Ebro), Marta Brú, who aims to boost research and resize the current staff, consisting of six people.
