The Department of Education has announced the removal of one 1st-year ESO class at the Terra Alta Institute in Gandesa, reducing the available groups from three to two for the next academic year.

This change will result in classrooms reaching the legal limit of 31 to 32 students per group. Local families and unions argue that the decision, based solely on birth rates, fails to consider the social complexity and the specific demographic reality of the Terra Alta region.

"The reduction in teaching staff will directly affect educational quality and student support."

The school is set to lose 2.5 teaching positions. Representatives from the USTEC-STEs union have called for an immediate reversal of the decision, warning of potential protests if the government does not reconsider the cuts during the current enrollment period.
