The Diputació de Lleida recently started consolidation works on the eastern section of the Guimerà Castle wall, involving an investment of €209,116.62, to enhance the structure's stability.
The works were visited by the Deputy of the Technical Services Area, Cristina Morón, and the area's director, Ivan Sabaté, accompanied by the Mayor of Guimerà, Salvador Balcells, highlighting institutional support for the heritage of Urgell.
The technical intervention involves restoring the wall's thickness using materials recovered from the same demolition, executing cyclopean concrete made of lime, sand, and recovered stones, and constructing an exterior masonry layer following the original courses.
In addition to the structural reconstruction, drainage systems will be installed at different levels to significantly improve the stability and durability of the work, ensuring its long-term conservation.

"The City Council is very grateful for the support of the Diputació de Lleida in the restoration of Guimerà's heritage, thus consolidating a tourist asset and an identity resource for Urgell."
