The course, titled De usu et cursu aquarum, offers a practical approach to reading and analyzing archive documentation to delve into the central role of water in medieval and modern society, both as a source of resources and conflict.
Participants will explore the complex world of water through original documents, analyzing its various uses (domestic, milling, irrigation, communication, or transport) and the problems arising from its exploitation, including phenomena such as floods and droughts.
This practical training is aimed at learning to read and interpret medieval and modern documentation, as well as identifying types of letters, abbreviations, and chronological systems.
The training will be led by Joan Busqueta, Professor of Medieval History at the Universitat de Lleida (UdL). Places are limited, and registration is open until January 21, 2026, by contacting the archive beforehand.
