The Tarregats entity closed the 2025 financial year at the Tàrrega cattery with 79 feline adoptions, despite expressing concern over resource shortages and the instability of the CER program.

The cattery, managed by Tarregats, registered a total of 100 cat entries during 2025, managing 79 adoptions. Currently, 21 felines remain in the facilities and 9 more are in foster homes.
The entity highlights that 14 cats have been included in the Catch, Sterilization, and Return (CER) program, but regrets that it could not be developed normally due to the “political problems” facing the Tàrrega City Council, warning that this halt may affect the control of feline colonies.

We will continue fighting for the cats as long as possible

Recently, the cattery received a new wooden house, built by users of the Va!deFusta inclusion project from the Alba Association at the Cal Carreter d’Agramunt center. This solidarity initiative directly contributes to improving the welfare of the sheltered animals.
The Tàrrega City Council has been promoting a regulation for the ethical control and management of urban feline colonies since last summer, aiming to stabilize the feral cat population in the capital of Urgell and encourage sterilization through the CER method.
