The Polinyà City Council has issued an alert regarding fraudulent calls impersonating the institution to request payments or personal data related to the waste tax, urging citizens to exercise maximum caution.

Several businesses in Polinyà have reported receiving calls where individuals impersonate representatives of the City Council, aiming to obtain sensitive information or make undue charges. This fraudulent practice has caused concern within the local community.

The council has reminded the public that the municipal administration never requests payments, personal data, bank details, or any other information that could compromise the security and privacy of citizens via telephone. Therefore, residents are urged to take extreme precautions and not provide any information through the internet or suspicious calls.
This alert comes in the context of improved security in the municipality. The Polinyà Local Security Board met on April 13 to analyze security data for the year 2025. Reports presented by the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Local Police revealed a 16% reduction in criminal offenses, decreasing from 300 in 2024 to 252 in 2025.
Furthermore, the case resolution rate saw a significant increase, from 27% to 40.5%, and the number of arrests grew by 23.5%, from 17 to 21. Although crimes against property remain the most frequent (71% of the total), they decreased by 24.1% compared to the previous year, with 180 cases recorded in 2025 compared to 237 in 2024.
