Renowned dermatologist Ramón Grimalt has issued a warning in Terrassa regarding how the trend of full genital hair removal is leading to an increase in sexually transmitted infections.

During a broadcast on TV3, doctor Ramón Grimalt stated that pubic hair is not a matter of hygiene but a natural protective barrier. He argued that current aesthetic trends are compromising health by removing a biological shield that prevents the spread of diseases.

"Pros, none at all. It is all cons. It is a purely aesthetic issue."

The expert explained that shaving creates micro-wounds that act as entry points for viruses and bacteria. Furthermore, short regrowing hair acts as an abrasive surface during sexual intercourse, causing skin irritation in areas not covered by condoms, such as the pubis.
