The city of Terrassa is dressing up this week to host Ègarcòmic, a new event dedicated to graphic narrative, including the First Comic Conference.

The event is launched with the aim of being a meeting point, dialogue, and celebration for graphic narrative in Catalonia. Its promoters seek to "dignify, disseminate, and celebrate the potential of graphic narrative in all its facets," becoming a benchmark within the calendar of comic events at both Catalan and state levels.
Throughout the week, Ègarcòmic will offer a diverse and accessible program for all audiences, with activities such as specialized conferences, an art exhibition of international interest, and social events. The main attraction will be a large outdoor fair in the Plaça del Vapor Ventalló, connecting readers, authors, publishers, and industry professionals.
The program includes a series of conferences at the Biblioteca Central de Terrassa (June 1-3), where key themes of the genre will be discussed. Highlights include the talk "Stan Lee and the Great American Novel" by Alejandro M. Viturtia and the presentation "Alegría, a magazine born in Terrassa" by Jordi Manzanares.
The Arxiu Tobella will host, from June 1 to 6, the exhibition "Journey to the Center of British Comics: The Wonderful Characters of Fleetway," featuring original works of iconic characters such as Zarpa de Acero or Spider. The official inauguration will be on Thursday, June 4.
The Comic Fair, taking place all day in the Plaça del Vapor Ventalló, will feature tents from publishers, specialized shops, self-publishing areas, and author signings.
Furthermore, Ègarcòmic will have a solidarity aspect. Proceeds will be donated to childhood cancer research in collaboration with Policías X Valientes. A Drawing Contest for children aged 6 to 12 will also be organized, aiming to bring art to the pediatric oncology wards of various hospitals.
