This figure, slightly higher than anticipated, is boosted by the club's membership volume, which exceeds 10,000. This amount can be adjusted during the winter transfer window based on the entity's financial evolution.
The salary cap, known as the Squad Cost Limit (SCL), determines each club's real financial capacity to sign new players and invest in its sporting structure. It includes salaries, bonuses, amortizations, Social Security, and expenses for the youth academy and subsidiaries. It is calculated by subtracting budgeted income from expenses.
Sabadell ranks with the sixth-lowest budget in the category. Some direct rivals have lower figures, such as Almería (3.9 M€), despite a recent sale of 13 million euros. Other historic teams like Cádiz CF (4.7 M€), Valladolid (4.3 M€), or Granada CF (4 M€) also show more modest limits. Newly promoted Eldense (5.8 M€) is positioned just below Sabadell.
At the other end, the highest salary caps correspond to the teams relegated from the First Division: Girona FC (35.1 M€), Mallorca (34.7 M€), and Oviedo (20.8 M€). Girona's limit is 5.7 times higher than Sabadell's.
The SCL can be adjusted according to audited income (tickets, sales, sponsorships) and expenses. A club exceeding its limit may face hurdles in signing players, with rules like 1:2 or 1:4 being applied, a mechanism to prevent losses and bankruptcy.
