New electrified railway catenary in Montcada i Reixac.

The Administrator of Railway Infrastructures (Adif) has completed the energization of the catenary for the new railway diversion in Montcada i Reixac, a crucial infrastructure for the train traffic transfer planned for the end of the year.

This action will free up the space where the main tunneling works will be carried out around the current station. The new provisional route, spanning 1.35 km of double track, includes a provisional station with two 210-meter platforms and canopies. The new station will feature a ticket sales booth near the underpass of Rocamora street.
The intervention also includes the connection to a new electrical substation, the installation of a new electronic interlocking for train control, the adaptation of pedestrian crossings, and the relocation of level crossing barriers on Pascual and Bogatell streets.
This work is part of the overall project to tunnel the Barcelona-Portbou line between Vallbona and Montcada i Reixac, which involves constructing a tunnel over four kilometers long with three tracks and a new underground station to eliminate level crossings and improve urban permeability.
The new catenary operates at 3,000 volts direct current. Adif reminds the public of the importance of avoiding contact with the infrastructure to prevent the risk of electrocution.
