The afternoon began with an ominous sky over Terrassa, as dark clouds foreshadowed a period of heavy rainfall. Around 4:45 PM, the storm erupted with lightning and thunder, followed by intense rain and, in some areas, hail. Despite the initial intensity, the episode was shorter and less severe than anticipated.
The Catalan Meteorological Service (Meteocat) had issued an orange-level warning for dangerous weather conditions due to heavy rain in Vallès Occidental. The alert, active between 2 PM and 8 PM, warned of the possibility of exceeding 20 liters per square meter in just 30 minutes. In response to this forecast, Protecció Civil activated the INUNCAT plan in alert phase, and the local mayor also activated the municipal emergency plan for flood risk.
According to data collected by Meteocat at the automatic station in Can Poal, by 6:30 PM, 14.5 mm of precipitation had accumulated in Terrassa, with 8.9 mm falling in just half an hour.
The storm also impacted railway transport. The R4 line of Rodalies Renfe experienced delays of over 30 minutes due to speed restrictions imposed between Calaf and Montcada Bifurcació because of adverse weather conditions. Furthermore, around 5 PM, a shuttle train service was established between Terrassa Estació del Nord and Manresa, while regular service was maintained between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Terrassa Estació del Nord. Shortly before 7 PM, regular railway service between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Manresa resumed, with two trains per hour in each direction.
