The Sant Jordi Day in Terrassa begins early with book and flower stalls appearing on the streets from Wednesday, building anticipation for a highly participatory event. The City Council has allowed sector professionals to set up sales points in front of their establishments for two days, extending the festivities.
On Thursday, April 23, the city will transform with hundreds of stalls, creating a mosaic of colors and stories. The day will include traditional popular culture performances and opportunities to explore local heritage with open days at various emblematic sites. Public libraries will also join the celebration with activities for all ages.
Plaça Vella will be one of the main hubs, becoming a meeting point for booksellers and florists. From Thursday, the map will expand to include entities, associations, educational centers, and political groups, occupying streets and squares in both the historic center and other neighborhoods and commercial areas, turning the city into a large open-air stage.
In total, 321 sales points have been authorized across Terrassa, including street stalls and those located in front of establishments. Of these, 67 belong to book and rose professionals, 240 to entities and associations, five to publishers, and nine to political parties. The offerings will include 161 stalls dedicated exclusively to roses, 41 to books, and 119 combining both products, maintaining the essence of the Diada.
Most of the activity will be concentrated in central and high-traffic areas such as Raval de Montserrat, Carrer del Peix, Plaça Vella, Placeta de la Font Trobada, Carrer Major, Carrer de la Font Vella, Passeig del Comte d'Ègara, or Rambla d'Ègara, among others. The Center and the Francesc Macià axis will host 37 professional stalls, 138 from entities and associations, and nine from political parties, while other neighborhoods and areas of the city will have 30 professional stalls and 102 from entities and associations.
The Torre del Palau will host about fifty local authors who can promote and sign their works, an initiative that began two years ago. Additionally, popular culture groups such as Bastoners de Terrassa, Drac de Terrassa, Diables de Terrassa, and Geganters de Terrassa will perform parades and dances. The casteller exhibition by the city's two groups, Minyons de Terrassa and Castellers de Terrassa, will take place in Plaça Vella.
The city's museums, including Casa Alegre de Sagrera, Castell Cartoixa de Vallparadís, and Seu d'Ègara, will offer open days. The Centre de Documentació i Museu Tèxtil de Terrassa (CDMT) will also open its doors. Municipal libraries, for their part, have organized an extensive program of activities including exhibitions and workshops, as well as a reading of the book Aprendre a esquivar les bales by journalist Xavi Coral.
